Association of LIG4 and XRCC4 gene polymorphisms with the risk of human glioma in a Chinese population.

چکیده
We conducted a case-control study to assess the LIG4 and XRCC4 genes polymorphisms and development of glioma. A case-control study including 162 glioma cases and 324 controls was conducted in a Chinese population. Genotypes of rs10131 and rs1805388 in LIG4 and rs2075685 and rs1805377 in XRCC4 were conducted by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assay. Conditional logistic regression analysis showed that subjects carrying AA genotype of LIG4 rs10131 was associated with increased risk of glioma when compared with GG genotype, and the OR (95% CI) was 3.26 (1.50-7.23). We found that GA+AA of LIG4 rs10131 was associated with increased risk of glioma in those without family history of cancer, and the OR (95% CI) was 1.78 (1.12-2.83). However, no association was found between variants of LIG4 rs1805388, XRCC4 rs2075685 and XRCC4 rs1805377 and development of glioma. In conclusion, our results suggest that LIG4 rs10131 polymorphism in the DNA repair pathways plays an important role in the risk of glioma in a Chinese population.

Polymorphisms in double-strand breaks repair genes are associated with impaired fertility in Chinese population.
The DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) repair pathway plays a critical role in repairing double-strand breaks, and genetic variants in DSBs repair pathway genes are potential risk factors for various diseases. To test the hypothesis that polymorphisms in DSBs genes are associated with susceptibility to male infertility, we examined 11 single nucleotide polymorphisms in eight key DSBs genes (XRCC3,...
متن کاملNo association between single nucleotide polymorphisms in pre-mirnas and the risk of gastric cancer in Chinese population
Objective(s): Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that miRNAs contribute to various genetic and epigenetic modifications in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer (GC). Recent studies focused on the four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of pre-miRNAs including rs11614913, rs3746444, rs2910164, and rs2292832. It was suggested that these four SNPs were significantly associated with the risk ...
متن کاملAssociation between polymorphisms in XRCC4 gene and glioma risk: a meta-analysis and systematic review
Objective: Increasing evidences have shown that DNA repair molecule related genes can be cancer-risk genes. In recent, polymorphisms in XRCC4, which is a member of DNA repair genes, have been identified contributed to the risk of a variety of cancers, including glioma. Nevertheless, data derived from these studies are inconclusive. Therefore, to obtain a more precise estimation, the present met...
متن کاملThe Association Between C194T and G399A Polymorphism of XRCC1 Gene and Susceptibility to Gastric Cancer in the People Living in the Western Part of Iran
Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies in the world. It may result from a defect in the genes involved in DNA repair. One of the essential genes in the repair pathway is the XRCC1 gene that its polymorphisms in the human population play a role in gastric cancer susceptibility. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the association of 194C/T and 399G/A polym...
متن کاملAssociation of Htra1 Gene Polymorphisms with the Risk of Developing AMD in Iranian Population
Background: Half of the cases of vision loss in people under 60 years of age have been attributed to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This is a multifactorial disease with late onset. It has been demonstrated that many different genetic loci are implicated in the risk of developing AMD in different populations. In the current study, we investigated the association of high-temperature &lr...
